This is a necklace with lots of silver and lots of style. The sterling and turquoise cross is Navajo made. The tradition of Navajo crosses dates back to trade with early Missionaries. Spanish-made ornamental crosses were given by Missionaries to Native Americans to wear as symbols of faith. Appreciated by the Native Americans for their decorative beauty rather than as a sign of their conversion to catholicism, they were worn and traded. Eventually native silversmiths began making crosses on their own, and the tradition of the Navajo style cross evolved.

The pendant hangs from three strands of beautiful sterling beads ending in handmade cones. The necklace closes with a graceful yet strong hook and eye clasp. We offer two styles of The Santa Cruz Necklace. Both are lovely and differ only slightly. Each are one of a kind.

Our Santa Cruz I has three strands of sterling silver beads, including melon beads and handmade beads.

Weight is 5-1/8 ounces, length - approximately 21-1/2" long. Cross measures 2-5/8" wide X 3-3/4" long, including bail. Genuine sterling silver and turquoise. Handmade.
